Privacy Policy

This policy explains what personal information Xtar ("we", "us") collects when you visit xtar.io or join our waitlist, what we do with it, and the choices you have. Xtar is for adults only: you must be 18 or over to use it.

It covers this website and the waitlist. When you create an account in the game itself, we will collect more information than is listed here, and we will show you the policy that covers it before you sign up.

1. What we collect

Your email address, if you join the waitlist.
Anything you send us, if you email us or contact us through Discord or X.
Technical information your browser sends automatically, such as your IP address, device and browser type, the pages you view and roughly where in the world you are.
Usage information from cookies, described in our Cookie Policy.

We do not ask for your name, address or payment details on this website.

2. How we use it

To add you to the waitlist and send your invitation when a place is available.
To send you news about Xtar. Every email has an unsubscribe link.
To reply when you get in touch.
To understand how the website is used so we can improve it.
To keep the website secure and to work out whether Xtar can be offered where you are.

3. Our legal basis

Where UK or EU data protection law applies, we rely on your consent for waitlist emails, and on our legitimate interests in running, securing, measuring and improving Xtar for everything else. You can withdraw consent at any time.

4. Who we share it with

We do not sell your personal information. We share it only with companies that provide services to us, and only so they can provide those services:

Webflow, which hosts this website and stores waitlist sign-ups.
Google Analytics, which measures how the website is used.
Our email service provider, which sends waitlist emails on our behalf.

We may also disclose information if the law requires it, or if Xtar is sold or reorganised, in which case the new owner must keep to this policy.

Our Discord server and our X account are run on those companies' platforms. What you do there is covered by their own privacy policies.

5. How long we keep it

We keep your email address until you unsubscribe or ask us to delete it, or until the waitlist is no longer needed. Analytics information is kept for no longer than 14 months.

6. Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to see the information we hold about you, to have it corrected or deleted, to object to how we use it, to have it sent to you in a portable form, and to withdraw consent. To use any of these rights, email hello@xtar.io. You also have the right to complain to your local data protection authority.

7. Security

We take reasonable steps to protect your information, including encryption in transit. No website can promise complete security, so please tell us straight away if you think something is wrong.

8. International transfers

Our service providers may process your information in countries other than your own, including the United States. Where the law requires it, we rely on recognised safeguards such as standard contractual clauses.

9. Children

Xtar is not for anyone under 18 and we do not knowingly collect information from children. If you believe a child has given us their details, email us and we will delete them.

10. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy. The latest version will always be on this page, with the effective date at the top.
